The year to April 2024 was an incredibly busy time for our service with more people helped and more issues dealt with than the preceding year.

A dominant feature of our advice during the year has been issues related to the cost-of-living crisis including providing emergency access to food and energy, help with benefits and debt, and supporting people in rent arrears.

Overall, our biggest area of need was benefits advice – particularly helping people to understand which benefits they are entitled to and supporting people to access a Personal Independence Payment- a disability benefit that lots of people have experienced trouble in accessing.
