Are you passionate about fairness and the need to challenge the impact of poverty and inequality?

Are you interested in helping to govern a local charity?

Citizens Advice Winchester District is looking for a Treasurer and two new Trustees

We are a local charity with a small paid team of ten full time equivalent staff and 70 volunteers who primarily provide our advice service. In 2021 we helped over 7,300 people with nearly 18,000 issues such as debt, housing, employment and benefits. We have offices in Winchester and Bishop’s Waltham and also provide outreach services across the District including a home visiting service.

You don’t need to have had experience of Citizens Advice, or of being a trustee. What is important is for trustees to be committed to the charity’s mission and objectives and to be prepared to work with enthusiasm and energy to help the charity to challenge the impact of poverty, inequality and discrimination and to make a difference to the clients we help.

Time Commitment

The expected time commitment is attendance at 2.5hr board meetings every three months, as well as some commitment between meetings, depending on individual Trustee roles and responsibilities. Trustees are also expected to lead on one or more aspects of governance, either individually or as part of a small sub-group.

Specialist interests

The current board has five trustees and wishes to recruit up to three new trustees. As part of our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, Citizens Advice Winchester District wants to strengthen the board to better reflect the diversity of our society and the communities we serve. We would like to recruit people with different experience, perspectives and lived experience, as well as an interest or experience in one of the following areas:

  • Treasurer
  • Fundraising and other income generation
  • Marketing, media & PR
  • IT
  • Premises

More details can be found in our Trustee Information Pack and Treasurer Role Profile
